A few years ago, when I was creating the Cautiva’s album «Human» -time which I was underestimating my previous recordings for piano-, one day I took a look to my very old archive of own unreleased recordings and demos and I watched that an interesting stuff was being abandoned by myself for years. Then I realized that something nice could be made with all it… Two projects were born then: the first one, the «Works» files, in which I began to compile diverse information about each composition and recording and I continue updating nowadays (in a way to remember, to know… like a library); the second one was the 3 CDs-Box compilation «A Retrospective: The Early Years – 1994-2003», as a way to collect my previous released works and offers a brunch of old and previously unreleased tracks, tracks that had never before found a place to stay. I decided to make a generous contribution with those old times and I released the most of all that stuff, 20 or more tracks if I remember properly… Cover pieces (Beethoven, Mendelssohn…), hard experiments (The Five Babel Constructions, Reflejos, Continuum…), unfinished pieces, studies of an evening… It was very nice to deal again with all that!
That was in 2009. Today, 15th of February of 2014, I’m glad to present you here a second chapter:
«Eclecticism – A 2008-2013 Retrospective».
After, more or less, two years not doing music and watching the “post-early years” from a certain perspective, I’ve found a good moment to do a new retrospection and to close, definitely, a second stage in my musical creation. In this occasion, the period is mainly 2008-2011, years of hard work and eclectic projects (Cautiva, The Illusionist album, the nice experimentations in the EP «Don’t Kill The Vinyl» and the LP «No More Faith», etc.), crazy years where I gave everything I could to my music and carried me to need a strong rest and break with everything related…
«Eclecticism – A 2008-2013 Retrospective» is this final retrospection, a 2 CDs-Box compilation, with 25 tracks and more than two hours of music, including 3 unreleased tracks (only released as independent tracks in this website, but not on any ordinary release): «Shinigami’s Dream, No. 7 (Born to Die Mix)» (an experimentation from 2011), «Fusing Into Black» (other experimentation, but from 2012) and, finally, «Improvisation In An Old Style» (an improvisation from summer of 2013). Part of the music is slightly remastered.
