First release in July 2015.
This is the third and farewell (for a long time*) recording of Cautiva, my technical and progressive thrash metal project in which I play all the instruments (guitars, bass, drum programming and vocals), in the style of a “one-man band”.
[ *In 2022 I released a final additional track, «I Am The Omega», and I definitely closed the project ]
Of all my projects, Cautiva has probably been my favorite –so wild and technically excessive–, but it’s extremely demanding in terms of time, technical skill and energy. That’s why in 2014 I decided to put it on hold, maybe even forever… At that time, I already had in mind starting to work in a new and probably long period of electronic exploration, so I thought it was a good moment to end Cautiva by recording some new music. Even though this recording was meant as the farewell of the project, I never ruled out the idea of recording something else in the future (a track or something like that)… And this became real in 2022, when I released the final additional track “I Am The Omega”.
For this EP, “The Archangel Of Omega”, I initially wanted to record three or four songs, but in the end it was just two. I gave my best with both tracks and they turned out so complex that I needed a lot of time to finish them in the way I wanted. On top of that, I had no luck during the recording process: hardware problems, a lot of software problems, health issues (my voice)… The whole process was awful, and after finishing the second song I said “That’s enough for me!” I decided not to record any more tracks for such a f*cking EP. Hahaha!
I have wanted to release each song in two different versions: the original version (with vocals) and an instrumental version (without vocals, of course, but also slightly different).
Not many minutes of music, but if you like Cautiva, I think you’ll like this as well. I tried to capture and transmit the purest essence of the project.
