After the release of «The Archangel Of Omega», farewell EP of my techno-prog thrash metal project CAUTIVA, I’ve spent part of the summer preparing my studio for the new project in which I’m involved actually. This “new project” is more like a “new stage” in my musical life, breaking with the most of my musical approaches of the past and trying a new perspective where the electronic music -style which I’ve loved for decades but hardly practiced except for a few of pieces and experiments- is the main leitmotif.

When I started working again on my music last year with Cautiva, I already had made the decision to start making some electronic music for a long period. The reason is that I feel a strong passion for this style and I found in it all the aspects I wanted if I’d get back to making music: something new for me, improvisations, experiments, a strong interaction with software and computers, spontaneity…

So, this summer has been a time of change, buying new hardware and software, searching the best equipment for my needs, learning new tools and procedures, facing a new DAW (Steinberg Cubase Pro 8, last years I usually worked with different versions of Cakewalk Sonar) and so on. As a result of all this and as a statement of intent, at the end of August I began to work, slowwwlllllllyyyyyyy, in a tribute to Edgar Froese (died last January) and his great band Tangerine Dream. I decided then to make a revision of «Love On A Real Train», piece originally composed by Tangerine Dream in 1983 for the soundtrack of the movie «Risky Business». Although at first I didn’t expect to make many changes to the original, finally the piece has flowed with an own and very different personality from the 1983 version. Except for the main sequence and some notes, the track is completely new, but I like the result, because I think it keeps the essence of Tangerine Dream. All the time I was making changes and adding new parts, but all the time I wanted to keep its essence…

Listen the piece (go here) and tell me what you think about 🙂

A new beginning, “project #1” finished 🙂

I’m still changing some aspects of my studio. There are so many new things to work with now!

Health,

Now playing – Robert Rich: the so loooong «Perpetual» track.
