Second single (of three) featuring an unreleased track in an experimental electronic/ambient style. In this case, «Duality (Dissociating From Reality)» was recorded a year before its release date and it was my first recording after two and a half years of silence.

With this piece I wanted to describe and explore two concepts:

-First, working with complementary and alternating musical ideas. The track is full of dualities: two alternating variations in the bass-sequence, two alternating variations in the kick drum, two simultaneous time signatures (4/4 and 12/16) constantly desynchronizing and synchronizing, the use of the left-right stereo field, the dreamlike dialogue between male and female voices… Always two sides of the same coin. Duality!

-This helped me to go to the second concept: trying to describe a mind dissociating from reality (as in the onset of schizophrenia, depersonalization or something similar). I wanted the music to sound like a dream. In this context, special mention goes to the “dialogue/story” of voices in the middle of the track.

The “dialogue/story” you can hear in the middle of the piece was built using different male and female voices taken from a few old American films. My goal was to create an ambiguous, dreamlike sensation.

Experimental electronic/ambient style. A bit tricky to finish. :-/
