Well, first of all: Hello again!

No, I didn’t die 🙂 …

The last time I wrote here (or on Facebook) was in February. Back then, I mentioned sharing a new track and talked about some future projects I had in mind. Around that time, I also moved into a new house and finally got –after a long wait!– a proper dedicated room to set up my private recording studio.

In March I had little free time, but I still managed to spend a few days recording an additional track for a various artists compilation. After that, though, I started feeling unmotivated to create music and got involved in non-musical projects instead. Weeks and months went by. During the summer I did have time to focus on my own music again and tried to start a new metal project –maybe a new Cautiva track or EP– but after two weeks of production work, practice, and so on, I decided to stop. Once again, lack of motivation… I just wasn’t in the right emotional state to work seriously on my music and projects. I guess time passes, and I change with it.

At the moment, I’m still more focused on other aspects of my personal life than on music. But a few weeks ago, I had the idea of releasing, before the end of the year, an album compiling all the electronic music I recorded over the last year and a half that never made it into my regular releases. I haven’t forgotten that my original plan for 2017 was to focus on two electronic projects –two different EPs, as I wrote in February– but since I lost interest, I thought it would be a good idea to bring together the material I had partially created for both projects, add some new music, and finish it as… a minor album, let’s say? I liked the idea, mainly because it gives me the chance to close a chapter in my musical life and start something fresh. I’d like to record new music in 2018 –I do feel motivated with some ideas– but they’re not related to my original plan of releasing two electronic EPs. So, I want to close what I started by releasing this album and free myself to begin something new 🙂

I already had a clear idea of how the music for this “improvised” album should flow, but to make it work I needed to record one extra track I had left in the conceptual stage since about a year ago (around the «Navigator» period) for my ambient EP. With this track, I felt the album would have the right structure. I finally recorded it two weeks ago, in just one weekend, and then put all the pieces together. The puzzle was solved. And I really liked the result.

SSo, from today I want to start being active with my music again. First, we’ll have this short new album in December (I’m currently working on the cover artwork). Second, I’ve been spending a lot of time, little by little, building my studio, and I hope to have it finished by the end of the year. Third, I want to update «Works», my studio inventory and some of my software. And fourth – finally – starting January 1st, I want to begin working on a new musical project. Those are my goals 😛

In my next post, I’ll share some details about the upcoming album.

Thanks once again for all your support,
